Sic Brick
Silicon carbide in silicon carbide bricks means that corundum (SiC) is smelted at high temperature in a resistance furnace with raw materials such as quartz sand, petroleum coke (or coal coke), wood chips (salt is required to produce green silicon carbide). Due to its stable chemical properties, high thermal conductivity, small thermal expansion coefficient, and good wear resistance, it is also used to make advanced refractory materials in addition to being used as abrasives.
1.Good wear resistance and corrosion resistance
2.Good thermal stability
3.High thermal conductivity
Sic Brick Description
It is a kind of refractory brick formed by mixing high-purity silicon carbide coarse powder and high-activity silicon carbide micro-powder, and then vacuum sintering at 2450°C to recrystallize after grouting. SiC is covalently bonded, and there is no so-called sintering property, but sintering is achieved by chemical reaction to form a new phase, that is, reaction sintering.
Application
They have high electrical conductivity and can effectively conduct electric current. This is critical for the proper functioning of aluminum electrolytic cells, as the current needs to be delivered to the electrolyte through the walls and bottom of the cell.
During blast furnace smelting, the walls and bottom of the furnace are impacted and worn by scrap and molten metal. Silicon carbide bricks have excellent wear resistance, can effectively resist impact and wear, and prolong the service life of the blast furnace.
Ceramic kilns need high temperature to complete the sintering and molding process of ceramics. They can work stably for a long time in a high temperature environment, withstand high temperature thermal stress, and maintain a stable temperature in the kiln.

A1:It is commonly used in high-temperature applications, such as industrial furnaces, kilns, and reactors. They are ideal for environments with extreme heat, corrosive chemicals, and thermal shock conditions.
A2:Yes, they are often used in contact with molten metals. They have good resistance to chemical corrosion from many molten metals, including aluminum, copper, iron, and their alloys.
A3:Yes, they are generally suitable for reducing atmospheres. They have good resistance to chemical reactions with reducing agents, such as carbon monoxide or hydrogen. However, prolonged exposure to extremely reducing conditions or certain specific gases may cause some degradation over time. It is advisable to consult the brick manufacturer or a refractory expert for guidance in such cases.
A4:They are typically manufactured in standard sizes and shapes, such as rectangular or square. While it is possible to cut or shape them to some extent, their hardness and composition make them challenging to modify on-site.
A5:The lifespan of silicon carbide bricks can vary depending on the operating conditions, temperature, chemical environment, and mechanical stress they are subjected to.
